Objectives

This master class is designed to help participants obtain detailed knowledge of pelvic anatomy and comprehensive skills in pelvic reconstructive surgery for pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence.

Syllabus

This Master Class covers a comprehensive syllabus which include

  • Pelvic and vaginal anatomy and pelvic floor support
  • Current status pelvic organ prolapse (POP) repair
  • Surgical options for POP: vaginal, laparoscopic, abdominal
  • Mesh: classification, selection, indications, applications, benefits and complications
  • Laparoscopic suturing acquisition of skills essential for laparoscopic reconstructive surgery
  • Principles and techniques laparoscopic pelvic floor repair, vault suspension, sacrocolpopexy
  • Principles and techniques vaginal sacrocolpopexy, mesh repair, PROLIFT techniques
  • Principles and techniques incontinence surgery: TOT, TVT, laparoscopic colposuspension
  • Management and prevention of complications related to POP surgery
  • Management and prevention of complications related to the use of mesh in POP surgery
Program Accreditation

Each module in this Master Class has been constructed to help the practising obstetricians and gyanecologists participate in the RANZCOG Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Participants are eligible to claim 13 Practice Improvement (PI) and Clinical Risk Management (CRM) points, as well as 26 Meeting points.

    • To learn to manage vascular and visceral injuries which may occur during pelvic reconstructive surgery

    • To learn the surgical principles of vaginal pelvic reconstruction
    • To learn the surgical principles of laparoscopic pelvic floor repair
    • To learn the principles of mesh application in pelvic floor repair
    • Case presentation and discussion
